Goals and Specific Objectives

College of Public Health Strategic Goals for 2016 through 2020
 

Goal 1:  Achieve excellence in education for all of our students in the classroom didactic teaching and during the experiential learning for every practicum and internship.

Goal 2:  Seek and actively pursue research and scholarship opportunities in public health in order to achieve national and international recognition.

Goal 3:  Actively pursue opportunities to provide service and professional leadership in various settings and situatons.

Goal 4:  Actively pursue opportunities to strengthen programs by recruiting well-qualified faculty and seek funding to improve those programs.


Specific Objectives Linked to Strategic Goals

This section outlines specific objectives and actions to accomplish each of the Strategic Goals. Each specific objective is written using the “SMART” format: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results-oriented, and with a Time-frame for completion.

Leadership responsibility is borne by all COPH faculty and staff. It is understood that everyone in the College plays a very important role in accomplishing these goals.

 

Goal 1:  Achieve excellence in education for all of our students in the classroom didactic teaching and during the experiential learning for every practicum and internship.

1.1  Excellence in education will include leading the sustained use of competency based education, teaching and learning methods for all programs.

1.2 Educational environment will include cultural diversity among students, faculty and staff.

1.3 Develop and offer an undergraduate program in public health.

1.4 Inter-professional education will be woven into the curriculum and become a component of the learning experience for our students.

 

Goal 2: Seek and actively pursue research and scholarship opportunities in public health in order to achieve national and international recognition.

2.1 Achieve national and international recognition for research and scholarship in public health.

2.2  Sustain and enhance the translation of this scholarly work into evidence based public health practice.

 

Goal 3: Actively pursue opportunities to provide service and professional leadership in various settings and situations.

3.1  Seek opportunities at the international, national, domestic, and local levels to provide meaningful and recurring service.

3.2  Seek partnerships with public health agencies/practice partners to implement service activities.

3.3  Proactively include students in the services provided and guided by the faculty, in collaboration and coordination with student organizations such as COPHSA.

 

Goal 4: Actively pursue opportunities to strengthen its programs by recruiting well-qualified faculty and seek funding to improve those programs.

4.1  Increase the number of faculty positions.

4.2  Fundraising (Development) Plan.

4.3  Achieve mentoring of junior faculty in a structured and organized way.
