OU Hudson College of Public Health Launches Online Master of Public Health to Elevate Careers in Health Care and Public Policy

Published: Thursday, February 22, 2024

In an effort to meet the growing need for public health professionals, the Hudson College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma announced the launch of a new online Master of Public Health degree in Population and Community Health.

Designed with health care professionals in mind, this new online degree offers a comprehensive understanding of population health and community health and will prepare students for career advancement. Students will learn how to promote healthy communities and improve health outcomes, discover social determinants of health, and better understand public health policies.

Graduates of the program will gain a competitive edge in the workforce while learning to lead in a rapidly growing and evolving health care field.

The new online MPH, taught by world-class faculty, will further the college’s mission to provide quality graduate and professional education for both public health professionals and research scientists in an area where related occupations are expected to grow at a faster-than-average rate, said Dr. Dale Bratzler, dean of the Hudson College of Public Health.

“The broad range of topics that public health officials address, along with the COVID-19 pandemic and other national events over the last few years, has raised the field of public health to new heights of awareness. As the scope and severity of public health challenges increase, there is a growing need for public health professionals,” Bratzler said. “The online MPH will give students a competitive edge by offering an accessible and flexible way to gain the advanced skills necessary to lead in this emerging industry.”

This program is offered through OU Online and the Hudson College of Public Health and is ideal for graduate students and professionals working in health care, public policy or community-based organization sectors, such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, social work and public administration.

This 45-hour graduate program can be completed 100% online in as little as two years. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the National Board of Public Health Examiners exam to become certified in public health.

The OU Hudson College of Public Health provides quality graduate and professional education for public health practice professionals and research scientists. The Hudson college is one of only 67 CEPH-accredited schools of public health in the United States and the only accredited school of public health in the state of Oklahoma.
