Published: Tuesday, October 3, 2023

Congratulations to Hanxia Li, Ph.D. student in Biostatistics, for winning the Biopharmaceutical Applied Statistics Symposium award!

Li was selected based on his academic performance and project, "Machine Learning Application for Predicting Smoking Cessation Among US Adults: An Analysis of Waves 1-5 of the PATH Study," which he co-authored with Dr. Sixia Chen.

According to Li, "being recognized by BASS is not just an honor but a reaffirmation of my commitment to pushing the boundaries of biostatistical research. This award symbolizes both an acknowledgment of past endeavors and a beacon guiding future explorations in the vast ocean of biopharmaceutical statistics."

Li's academic journey began with a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from New York University, which later led to his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the OU Hudson College of Public Health. His work intersects applied mathematics and biostatistics, with focuses on the application and refinement of statistical techniques, machine learning and data analysis, especially within the context of health outcomes and patient data.
