General Application Guidelines

Transcripts (U.S. and International Applicants)

As part of your SOPHAS or HAMPCAS application, you are required to submit separate official transcripts from every U.S. and Canadian institution you attended to the Office of Admissions and Records. Arrange for official transcripts from all prior undergraduate, graduate, and professional study to be sent to SOPHAS or HAMPCAS. Find instructions for sending your transcripts to SOPHAS here. Have a copy of your transcripts to complete the application's coursework section. Do not enter foreign courses taken at universities outside the U.S. or Canada.

International Applicants

If you are applying as an international applicant to OU Hudson College of Public Health, you are required to submit transcripts/mark sheets to the World Education Services (www.wes.org) or Education Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) for a course-by-course evaluation. Please designate SOPHAS or HAMPCAS to receive the evaluation.

English Language Proficiency

If you are an international applicant, you are required to demonstrate English proficiency.  This can be satisfied by submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet the minimum required score. Additional information about the English proficiency requirement is available at OUHSC’s English Proficiency Requirements page.

  • TOEFL scores should be submitted to SOPHAS using the designation code #5688. Former or current Norman Campus students need to email their official scores to phadmissions@ou.edu

  • IELTS scores should be submitted by following the instructions on the IELTS website. OUHSC accepts paper Test Report Forms. Norman Campus students need to email their official scores to phadmissions@ou.edu

GRE Test Scores

Applicants to all PhD degrees in the Hudson College of Public Health are required to submit official GRE scores. GRE scores are NOT required for the MPH, MHA, MS, or Certificate Programs.

SOPHAS should be designated to receive the scores by using the designation code #4244.

Career Goal Statement and Current CV/Resume

Career Goal Statement

The career goal statement/personal essay should be created in a word processing program and uploaded into the program-specific fields in the program-specific application tool: SOPHAS application, the Hudson College supplemental application, and/or the HAMPCAS application.  Complete instructions are within the respective application.

Current CV/Resume

The SOPHAS, HAMPCAS and Hudson College supplemental applications allow applicants to upload the CV or resumé before electronically submitting the application. It is not possible to upload the resumé to the SOPHAS application after e-submission of the application.

It is important to upload your resumé into the SOPHAS, HAMPCAS or Hudson College supplemental application. Any document not received by SOPHAS or HAMPCAS will not be visible to the Admissions Committee when they review application files.

University of Oklahoma - Current or Former Students

OU Norman current or former students only need to complete the supplemental application because SOPHAS is always waived for them.

All OU Norman current or former applicants must submit a copy of each of their transcripts to our Office of Admissions and Records utilizing the following instructions: https://admissions.ouhsc.edu/Prospective-Students/How-to-Apply/Submit-Supporting-Materials .
