CEPH

Council on Education for Public Health

The Hudson College of Public Health is proudly Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited, reflecting our commitment to excellence in public health education. CEPH accreditation is a hallmark of quality, ensuring that our programs meet rigorous standards set by public health professionals and academics. The Hudson College of Public Health (HCOPH) is one of only 68 schools of public health in the United States accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The College was founded at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in 1967 and was first accredited in 1969.

Why CEPH Accreditation Matters

  • Quality Assurance: Attending a CEPH-accredited institution means your degree program has undergone a thorough multi-level review and meets nationally agreed-upon standards.
  • Employment Opportunities: Many public health employers, including the US Public Health Service, US military, and various state and local government agencies, require or prefer graduates from CEPH-accredited programs.
  • Fellowships and Credentials: Some prestigious fellowships and the eligibility to sit for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam are available exclusively to students from CEPH-accredited schools.

Our Recent Achievements

In November 2023, the Hudson College of Public Health hosted a CEPH peer review team for a comprehensive site visit and review of reaccreditation status. This extensive self-study and review process provided both qualitative and quantitative assessments of how well the Hudson College achieves its mission, goals, and objectives, and meets the accreditation criteria.

The Hudson College was evaluated on 43 criteria applicable to the college's degree programs.

  • 41 criteria were “met.”
  • 0 criteria were “partially met” or “not met”

It is highly unusual that a college of public health receives no "partially met" or "not met" criteria speaking to the quality of education found at the Hudson College.  The site visit team praised the strong interactions they had with our alumni, students, community leaders, faculty, administration, and staff, highlighting the exceptional community found at the Hudson College. Effective December 31, 2023, the Hudson College of Public Health was reaccredited for the maximum 7-year cycle.
