How to Apply

The Hudson College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma is the only CEPH-accredited school of public health in Oklahoma. Applying is a straightforward 2-step process. Applicants to all programs should start by submitting the OU Health Sciences Application (online programs must also submit program-specific materials in this application as outlined on the programs’ page). Applicants to on-campus programs must also submit a SOPHAS or HAMPCAS application. Scroll down this page to review specific requirements and instructions for each program and application.

Submit OU Health Sciences Application

The OU Health Sciences application for admission is required for all degree programs.

Submit SOPHAS  Application

Some programs require a SOPHAS application, a centralized application option for public health applicants. Check the "Program Specific Requirements" below to see if you need to submit one.

Submit HAMPCAS  Application

The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program requires either a HAMPCAS or SOPHAS application. Both are centralized application options. HAMPCAS is only an option for MHA applicants. Check the “Program Specific Requirements” below to see if you need to submit one.

Hudson College of Public Health applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and applications will be reviewed as they are complete. All materials must be submitted by the deadlines listed below for full consideration.

US Applicants

  • Applicants to the following on-campus programs must submit an official transcript from each U.S. and Canadian college/university attended to SOPHAS or HAMPCAS. Follow the instructions for sending your transcripts to SOPHAS here or HAMPCAS here. You will need a copy of your transcripts available for you to complete the application's coursework section. Do not enter foreign courses taken at universities outside the U.S. or Canada.

International Applicants  

Applicants with international college/university coursework (excluding Canada) are required to submit transcripts/mark sheets to World Education Services (www.wes.org) or Education Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) for a course-by-course evaluation. If utilizing World Education Services (WES), designate SOPHAS or HAMPCAS to receive the evaluation. If utilizing Education Credential Evaluators (ECE), have ECE send your evaluation to the OU Health Campus by email at Admissions@ouhsc.edu or by mail to:

English Language Proficiency

If you are an international applicant, you are required to demonstrate English proficiency.  This can be satisfied by submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet the minimum required score. Additional information about the English proficiency requirement is available at OU Health Sciences' English Proficiency Requirements page.  

  • TOEFL scores should be submitted to SOPHAS using the designation code #5688.
  • IELTS scores should be submitted by following the instructions on the IELTS website. OU Health Sciences accepts paper Test Report Forms. Norman Campus students need to email their official scores to phadmissions@ou.edu

Personal Statement and Current CV/Resume

Personal Statement

Create a Personal Statement/Statement of Purpose in a word processing program. Upload it to the respective application: 

  • On-Campus Programs: Upload it to the SOPHAS (all programs are available through SOPHAS) or HAMPCAS application (Master of Health Administration program is available through HAMPCAS and SOPHAS – you can apply through either). Complete instructions are within the respective applications. 
  • Online Programs: Upload it to the OU Health Sciences application.

Current CV/Resume

Create a CV/Resume in a word processing program. Upload it to the respective application: 

  • On-Campus Programs: Upload it to the SOPHAS (all programs are available through SOPHAS) or HAMPCAS application (Master of Health Administration program is available through HAMPCAS and SOPHAS – you can apply through either). Complete instructions are within the respective applications. 
  • Online Programs: Upload it to the OU Health Sciences application.

OU Health Sciences Application

If you are applying to OU Hudson College of Public Health, you are required to submit a short and FREE OU Heath Sciences application.

Biostatistics and Epidemiology

All Biostatistics and Epidemiology (BSE) programs require the OU Health Sciences application and SOPHAS application. For international students, a TOEFL/IELTS score of 88/6.5 is required for admission. 

Health Administration and Policy

All Health Administration and Policy (HAP) programs require the OU Health Sciences application and SOPHAS application. For international students, a TOEFL/IELTS score of 100/7.0 is required for admission.

Health Promotion Sciences

All Health Promotion Sciences (HPS) programs require the OU Health Sciences application and SOPHAS application. For international students, a TOEFL/IELTS score of 88/6.5 is required for admission.

 

Occupational and Environmental Health

All Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) programs require the OU Health Sciences application and SOPHAS application. For international students, a TOEFL/IELTS score of 90/6.5 is required for the PhD and MS programs. A score of 88/65 is required for the MPH program.

Community and Population Health Programs and Dual Degree Programs

All of the following programs require the OU Health Sciences application, personal statement, and CV/resume. For international applicants to the MPH in Community & Population Health program, a TOEFL/IELTS score of 88/6.5 is required.

SOPHAS or HAMPCAS Application Fees

  • SOPHAS offers some fee waivers to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-service basis. You can learn more about their fee waivers here. Please direct fee waiver questions to SOPHAS by phone at 617-612-2090.
  • HAMPCAS does not offer fee waivers.

*Please note that the OU Hudson College of Public Health does not offer any fee waivers or coupon codes for the SOPHAS or HAMPCAS applications.
