We're Hiring for a Director of Undergraduate Public Health

Published: Monday, February 13, 2023

We're hiring for a Director of Undergraduate Public Health Programs. This is a 12-month position, based on the Norman campus, and jointly appointed between the Dodge Family College of Arts & Sciences (DFCAS, Norman) and the Hudson College of Public Health (HCPH), Health Sciences Center campus (HSC, in Oklahoma City), with administrative responsibilities, a 2-course per year teaching load, and the expectation of a robust sponsored research agenda

The Director will oversee the three established undergraduate major programs through coordinating recruitment and retention efforts, building the network of providers for practicum placements, internships, and capstone research opportunities, coordinating the curriculum, overseeing development of online course offerings, and facilitating career placement and pathways to the OU MPH program.

Research incentive payments are earned when the faculty members generate salary offset to their state base from extramural sources.  A general expectation of the College of Public Health is that tenure-track faculty generate sufficient extramural funding to offset at least one-half of their salary, and that this level of salary offset is achieved by the end of the third year of the appointment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring is expected from candidates. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses on the Norman and HSC campus and potential for teaching in the MPH program.

Ph.D. or equivalent (e.g., DrPH) in a Public Health field (e.g., Epidemiology, Health Promotion Sciences, Biostatistics, Health Administration) or related field (e.g., Economics, Politics, or Sociology of Health, Medical Anthropology, etc.); demonstrated administrative experience in the Public Health field, and record of excellence in teaching and research.
