Celebrating Pride Month

Celebrating Pride Month

Published: Thursday, June 13, 2024

The Hudson College of Public Health and the Office of Sovereignty, Opportunity, Belonging and Engagement recognize and celebrate Pride 2024 within our OU and greater Oklahoma communities!

Pride highlights the monumental strides and challenges the LGBTQIA2S+ community and its allies have historically and are currently taking to ensure that queer persons are reflected and welcomed in society.

This includes ensuring members receive quality medical care, equitable pay in professional life, or demystifying societal norms and perceptions that create stigma or harm amongst the community.

While we are excited to celebrate this year’s Pride, we must show up for LGBTQIA2S+ persons beyond June’s celebrations.

Supporting the community can be done through intentional and active listening, learning and education whether that be attending a digital workshop, a conversation, or joining an affinity group, alongside advocacy that amplifies the queer community’s efforts to improve lives for queer persons and their allies.
