HCOPH Welcomes a New Faculty Member

Please help us welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Lois Coleman, to the Hudson College of Public Health family! Lois Coleman, Ph.D. is a new assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences. She earned a PhD in Health Behavior and Promotion from the University of Mississippi. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist and has held professional positions in non-profit, local, state, and federally funded organizations.
Dr. Coleman is passionate about eliminating health disparities among minority populations, especially women. She employs mixed methods research techniques and draws from socioecological and community-based approaches to understand health behaviors and outcomes in minority populations. Dr. Coleman’s current research interests relate to obesity reduction through exploration of factors that shape subjective perceptions of body weight and how body weight perceptions influence health behaviors.
