ONIE Leads Wellness Produce Box Program to Bring Farm-Fresh Food to Campus
Published: Wednesday, April 23, 2025
The OU Hudson College of Public Health is proud to spotlight a new wellness initiative led by one of its very own centers: the Oklahoma Nutrition Information and Education (ONIE) Project. In collaboration with LiveWell OU and the OKC Food Hub, ONIE is launching the Wellness Produce Box Pilot Program at OKC—a fresh, farm-to-campus effort aimed at making healthy eating easier and more accessible for the OU Health Sciences community.
Starting Tuesday, May 6, 2025, participants can pick up fresh, locally grown produce every other Tuesday from 3–6 p.m. at the Thelma Gaylord Clock Tower next to Bird Library. The produce comes straight from small farms across Oklahoma and is harvested the very morning it’s delivered—ensuring top quality and peak freshness.
ONIE is working closely with the OKC Food Hub to manage the program through the Local Food Marketplace platform. Participants must register by Tuesday, April 29, at the following link:
👉 Register here for the Local Food for Wellness Program
Be sure to select "Local Food for Wellness Program" during sign-up. After registering, you’ll receive a prompt to add your credit card information before the first pickup. Charges will be processed the day after delivery.
The produce boxes are available in two share sizes: Small ($35) and Large ($50). What’s inside will change with the seasons, and participants can customize their boxes at pickup—choosing between varieties of what's freshest that week. ONIE and OKC Food Hub will also provide recipes and prep tips to help you get the most out of your share.
Pickup dates will continue every other Tuesday through October 28, 2025, with a quick and convenient loading zone in the Bird Library circle drive.
For order support or account questions, reach out to OKC Food Hub staff at admin@okcfoodhub.org or text 405-215-9855.
Thanks to ONIE’s leadership and strong community partnerships, this pilot program is bringing fresh, seasonal produce—and a big step forward in campus wellness—right to our doorstep.
