Biostatistics and Epidemiology

Welcome to the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Hudson College of Public Health! We're dedicated to applied public health practice and innovative research, from investigating infectious diseases and cancer to exploring statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology. Our collaborative approach drives evidence-based solutions that promote positive health outcomes for all communities.

Conduct Your Own Research

Students engage in cutting-edge research through our collaborative centers. They gain practical experience in research design, data analysis, and community health improvement, enriching their public health education. 

  • Research Design and Analysis Center: conducts cutting-edge research, providing expert support from research design to data analysis, collaborating with OUHSC investigators and community partners to drive impactful discoveries in public health. 
  • Center for American Indian Health Research: conducts groundbreaking research in collaboration with American Indian communities, focusing on improving health outcomes through epidemiological, clinical, and environmental studies, with a special emphasis on heart, lung, and blood vessel diseases, diabetes, and liver disease, while also promoting health and disease prevention.
  • Sooner Survey Center: provides comprehensive support for data collection, analysis, and evaluation, providing expert services to universities, hospitals, government agencies, and non-profit organizations in Oklahoma. Additionally, the Center actively hires public health students, enriching their experience with practical, hands-on training in survey research and analysis.
  • Intestinal Malrotation Research Alliance: conducts patient-engaged research to improve healthcare for individuals with intestinal malrotation, which is a rare congenital anomaly.  Advised by a team of patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers, the Alliance aims to better understand the epidemiology and natural history of malrotation to increase survival, optimize healthcare delivery, and improve quality of life for individuals and families affected by intestinal malrotation.
