Hudson College’s Dr. Sixia Chen Joins Editorial Team of Renowned Royal Statistical Society Journal

The Hudson College of Public Health proudly announces that Dr. Sixia Chen, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, has been appointed as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A (Statistics in Society) (JRSSA). His four-year term will begin in January 2025.

This prestigious journal, published by the Royal Statistical Society, is a leading platform that highlights the critical role of statistical thinking and analysis in societal progress. Known for its rigorous peer-review process and influence, JRSSA publishes cutting-edge research that demonstrates how statistical methods shape various domains, including public health, economics, and social sciences.

Dr. Chen’s appointment reflects his exceptional contributions to the fields of statistics, biostatistics, public health, and econometrics. With over 113 peer-reviewed articles published in premier journals, Dr. Chen is internationally recognized for his research in survey sampling, missing data analysis, machine learning, and causal inference. His innovative work has earned him accolades such as membership in the International Statistical Institute and numerous awards from the American Statistical Association (ASA).

In addition to his research, Dr. Chen holds several leadership roles, including serving as President of the ASA Oklahoma Chapter, Vice Chair of the Council of Chapters Governing Board District 4 of the ASA, Director of the Novel Methodologies Unit within the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Core of the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources, and Director of the Neurosurgery Biostatistics Unit.

In his new role as Associate Editor, Dr. Chen will work closely with senior editors to oversee publication schedules, manage editorial projects, and contribute to planning the journal’s content. This position is a testament to his expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to advancing statistical research. “We are thrilled to see Dr. Chen’s expertise and leadership recognized on such a prominent state,” said Dr. Jennifer Peck, interim-Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. “His appointment not only reflects his personal achievements but also underscores the Hudson College of Public Health’s commitment to advancing biostatistics and public health research.”
