Sara King, MPH, serves the Department of Health Promotion Sciences as Lecturer and Associate Director of the Bachelor of Public Health program. Prior to joining the University, Professor King spent 6.5 years at the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Most recently she served the District 6 County Health Departments, where her role as director of community engagement and health planning allowed her to experience and collaboratively implement local public health practice across urban and rural communities, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. King’s professional journey has included launching a research, pilot doula program funded by a CDC block grant, acting as Public Information Officer for pandemic response, and contributing to the local development of the Community Engagement and Health Planning division. Professor King continues her commitment to community engagement through board membership and steering committee service in local non profits.  She received a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and a master’s degree in Public Health.
