Primary Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities of the BSE Chair
Provide visionary leadership for the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, overseeing its academic and administrative activities.
Maintain a thriving and collegial work environment for faculty, staff and students.
Foster a culture of excellence in research, teaching, and service within the department.
Attract, mentor, and develop faculty members who demonstrate potential for outstanding contributions to the field.
Develop and implement a robust mentoring program for young faculty members and students, nurturing their professional growth and success.
Promote interdisciplinary collaborations and initiatives both within the department, across the college and health sciences campus, and with public health and biomedical professionals, agencies and associations in the state, region, and nationally.
Enhance the department's national and international reputation through innovative research and scholarly activities.
Advocate for resources and support to advance the department's mission and goals.
Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and professional organizations, to promote the department's work and impact.
