A Dedicated Advocate for Underserved Communities Takes on a Vital Role

Mark Woodring, an assistant professor for the Department of Health Administration and Policy and seasoned professional with a robust background in healthcare management, has been appointed to the newly formed Medicaid Delivery System Quality Advisory Committee by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.

Woodring, known for his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery for underserved communities, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His career has been marked by a dedication to enhancing both the quality and financial performance of healthcare systems, with a primary focus on reducing health disparities.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the appointment, Woodring shared, "I've spent my career working for underserved communities, strengthening healthcare delivery system quality and financial performance, and reducing health disparities." He revealed that the opportunity came to his attention at a conference where the need for candidates for the advisory committee was discussed. Drawing from his leadership experience at another state Medicaid agency, where he played a pivotal role in supporting the transition to managed care, Woodring decided to heed the suggestion of friends and colleagues and apply for the position.

Reflecting on the honor of serving on the committee, Woodring remarked, "It is an honor to serve with such a passionate group of people as we work to improve health and outcomes for Oklahomans in the new Sooner Select program!"
