Overview

The Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work (MPH/MSW) is an accelerated dual degree program resulting in an MPH in Health Promotion Sciences from the OUHSC Hudson of Public Health and an MSW from the OU Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work. A total of 88 curriculum hours are required to complete both degrees. Graduates of the dual MPH/MSW degree will work as agents of change to advance the health of individuals, families, and communities and elevate the status of people, populations or communities that experience considerable vulnerability and injustice within Oklahoma and the broader society.

Admissions Requirements

For the general application requirements see our How to Apply page. This specific program also requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree or entry-level first professional degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must be in good standing with the college or university where currently enrolled or last attended.
  • Grade point average requirement on a 4.00 scale can be met by any of the following:
    • 3.00 in bachelor’s degree cumulative GPA 
    • 3.00 in the last 60 credit hours of upper-division coursework applied to the bachelor’s degree
    • 3.00 in the master’s degree (or higher) cumulative GPA
    • 3.00 in the last 12 or more hours of graded graduate level coursework
    The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences is excluded from participation in the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) Academic Forgiveness Provisions including repeat, reprieve, and renewal. Therefore, all grades earned will be included in grade point calculations when applying for acceptance to an OU Health Sciences program.   • College Algebra or a higher-level math course.
  • Additionally, admissions to the MSW program would be required:  MSW (ou.edu)
