The Department of Health Promotion Sciences is recruiting for a 12-month tenure-track faculty position. Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent degree at the time of application; bring expertise that expands or augments existing faculty interests. We seek to recruit a team member committed to graduate level teaching/mentoring, community-engagement, and academic scholarship. Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses, serving on masters and doctoral committees, developing and sustaining an active portfolio of extramurally funded work, and engaging in academic, professional and local communities. Evidence of potential to obtain extramural funding to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations or those experiencing disparities is preferred. A research emphasis on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease prevention, or cancer prevention aligns with strategic priorities of the University Health Sciences Center.

The College offers programs for MPH, MS, and PhD degrees, plus a dual MPH/MSW program. Department faculty expertise includes health disparities, food/nutrition equity, American Indian and Latino health, youth wellness, gerontology, participatory research, social marketing. The Department is home to the Oklahoma Public Health training Center. The OU Health Sciences Center is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges – Public Health, Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Graduate Studies. Cross campus collaboration is encouraged and widespread. Close ties exist with state, county and city health departments, Tribal nations, other colleges/universities, and non-profit/philanthropic organizations.
