College Names Three New Hudson Fellow in Public Health

The Hudson Fellows in Public Health Program was established in 2015 to support outstanding students in full time doctoral study and research at the Hudson College of Public Health, through the generosity of Dr. Leslie and Cliff Hudson.  With additional generous gifts  from the Hudson’s in support of this program, the endowment now totals $5 million, and this enables us to support two new additional Hudson Fellows. 

Please join me in congratulating our newest Hudson Fellows:

1. Ami Sedani
2. Jessica Beetch
3. Toluwanimi Oni

Ami Sedani received her Bachelor of Science in biological sciences with a concentration of Biology & Society at Arizona State University and her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is a third-year doctoral student and Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (BSE).  She is interested in chronic disease etiology and subsequently prevention/early detection, as well as utilizing GIS in epidemiologic studies. She has served as past treasurer and President of the Epidemiology Research Student Association (e.g., epidemiology journal club)  as well as peer reviewer for the Journal of Cancer Education. 

Jessica “Jessee” Beetch received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education at Minnesota State University and her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the OU Hudson College of Public Health.  She is a second-year doctoral student and Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology.  She is interested in infectious disease and has spent the past year working on COVID-19 research and response efforts with OUHSC, OSDH, and OCCHD. Jessee has been a student leader holding officer positions on H-COPHSA, BSESA, and ERSA throughout her MPH and PhD schooling. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going on walks, and eating with friends. 

Toluwanimi Oni received his Bachelor’s degree in physiology and a master’s degree in environmental health from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is currently a doctoral student and Graduate Research Assistant at the Environmental Health Analytical Core (EHAC) in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. Toluwanimi hopes to become a university professor in the future and his research interests are focused on the health impacts of nicotine and electronic cigarette use as well as aerosol science.  He loves to read, travel and play soccer.
