A Decade of Impact: Vivian S. Lee to Keynote 10th Annual Hudson Fellows in Public Health Symposium

Event date: 4/9/2026 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM iCal Export

On April 9, 2026, the Hudson College of Public Health will mark a milestone moment—hosting the 10th Annual Hudson Fellows in Public Health Symposium from 12–1 p.m. in the Edward N. Brandt, Jr. Auditorium, with a virtual option available via Zoom.

As the College’s premier academic event, the Symposium celebrates a decade of advancing research that doesn’t just stay in journals—it moves into communities, policies, and practice.

This year’s keynote speaker, Vivian S. Lee, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., brings a national perspective on transforming health systems to deliver better outcomes for all. A physician, executive, and thought leader, Dr. Lee serves as President of Health Platforms at Verily Life Sciences, an Alphabet Inc. company, and as Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. She is also the author of The Long Fix: Solving America’s Health Care Crisis with Strategies that Work for Everyone, a forward-thinking examination of how innovative, data-driven strategies can make health care more effective, equitable, and affordable.

Dr. Lee will deliver a keynote address titled, “Advancing Healthspan with AI: Opportunities for How We Work, Care, Discover, and Share.” In her talk, she will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping health care delivery, biomedical discovery, and the workforce—while opening new possibilities to extend not just lifespan, but healthspan. Her remarks will highlight how innovation, data, and cross-sector collaboration can accelerate meaningful improvements in population health.

Established in 2016 through a $5 million endowment from Dr. Leslie and Mr. Clifford Hudson, the Hudson Fellows in Public Health Symposium highlights the work of eight full-time doctoral students each year. These Fellows are selected for their commitment to tackling real-world public health challenges with rigorous, applied research designed to improve population health in Oklahoma and beyond.

Over the past decade, the endowment has empowered Fellows to pursue scholarship that bridges theory and practice—research that informs decision-making, strengthens systems, and advances evidence-based solutions to complex health challenges.

The 10th annual Symposium is both a celebration of that legacy and a look toward the future. As Fellows present innovative research addressing today’s most pressing public health issues, Dr. Lee’s keynote will underscore the power of bold ideas, disciplined execution, and emerging technologies in building healthier communities.

Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners are invited to attend in person or virtually. Join us as we celebrate ten years of impact—and the next generation of leaders shaping the future of public health.
