Dr. Changjie Cai Receives Prestigious Provost’s Research Award for Junior Faculty

Published: Thursday, May 8, 2025

The Hudson College of Public Health is proud to announce that Dr. Changjie Cai, assistant professor in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, has received the 2025 Provost’s Research Award for Junior Faculty (Clinical/Translational Research). This prestigious honor was presented at the OU Health Sciences Faculty Awards Ceremony on April 24.

Established in the late 1980s, the Provost’s Research Award recognizes meritorious research accomplishments among full-time, regular faculty. Each year, two awards are presented: one to a junior faculty member (assistant professor) and one to a senior faculty member (associate or full professor). Recipients are honored for significant, original contributions to their field of study.

Since joining OUHSC in 2018, Dr. Cai has emerged as a leading voice in the field of occupational and environmental health. His innovative research focuses on hazard exposure assessment, air pollution dynamics, environmental equity, and the application of advanced methodologies—including machine learning—to public health challenges.

Dr. Cai’s scholarly productivity is impressive. He has published 24 peer-reviewed journal articles, including 10 as first or corresponding author. He has also co-edited a monograph and delivered 42 conference presentations, with 31 at national or international venues. His work exemplifies both scientific rigor and public health impact, advancing our understanding of environmental health risks and informing more equitable interventions.

The Hudson College of Public Health congratulates Dr. Cai on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates his continued contributions to research excellence at OUHSC.
