Dr. Jamie Rhudy, Professor in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences at the OU Hudson College of Public Health and Site Director of the Health Promotion Research Center in Tulsa, has been published as lead author in The Journal of Pain, a top-tier journal in the field of pain research.

His newly published article, Using intensive longitudinal assessment to study mechanisms of the Native American pain inequity among persons experiencing depression and/or anxiety: The role of interpersonal discrimination and stress, explores critical factors contributing to disproportionately high rates of chronic pain among Native American populations. The study specifically examines how interpersonal discrimination and psychological stress influence pain outcomes in individuals living with depression or anxiety—offering valuable insight into the complex, intersecting determinants of pain inequities.

Dr. Rhudy’s work is a powerful step forward in understanding and addressing long-standing health disparities, and it underscores the importance of culturally aware, evidence-based research in advancing health equity.
