Dr. Laura A. Beebe Named 2025 Rural Health Educator of the Year

The OU Hudson College of Public Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Laura A. Beebe, Professor of Epidemiology and Assistant Dean for Online Education, has been awarded the 2025 Rural Health Educator of the Year by the Rural Health Association of Oklahoma. This award honors individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to educating rural healthcare students, supporting the rural workforce, and developing innovative learning opportunities for communities across Oklahoma.
With nearly 25 years of experience, Dr. Beebe has built a distinguished career advancing public health through teaching, research, mentorship, and community-engaged scholarship. She has guided countless students through essential competencies ranging from epidemiologic methods to grant writing and evidence-based strategies in tobacco control. By integrating students into real-world research and public health initiatives, she ensures future health professionals are prepared to address the unique needs of underserved and rural communities.
Dr. Beebe has led numerous NIH- and state-funded research projects and has served in leadership roles within multiple research and evaluation cores. Her work includes long-standing partnerships with American Indian tribes across Oklahoma, contributing to culturally informed, community-driven public health solutions. Her dedication to excellence in teaching and mentorship has been recognized through prestigious honors such as the OUHSC Magarian Award and the President’s Associates Presidential Professorship.
Dr. Beebe’s selection as the 2025 Rural Health Educator of the Year highlights her enduring commitment to strengthening the rural health workforce and improving health outcomes throughout Oklahoma.
