Hudson College of Public Health to Host 2026 Colloquium on Qualitative Health Sciences Research

Published: Monday, February 2, 2026

The Hudson College of Public Health will host the 2026 Colloquium on Qualitative Health Sciences Research on Friday, April 10, 2026, bringing together students, faculty, researchers, public health professionals, and community members to explore and advance qualitative approaches in the health sciences. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST and will be offered in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions held at the Hudson College of Public Health and virtual participation available via Zoom.

Hosted by the OUHSC Qualitative Methods Community of Practice (QMCOP) in collaboration with the TSET Health Promotion Research Center, the annual colloquium provides a forum for sharing innovative qualitative research, works in progress, and methodological insights that strengthen qualitative inquiry across health-related disciplines. The event is open to participants from any university or professional affiliation and is designed as a flexible, “come-and-go” experience to encourage broad participation.

This year’s keynote speaker is Nancy Burke, PhD, professor of public health in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts at the University of California, Merced. Dr. Burke is nationally recognized for her work in qualitative and community-engaged research, and her keynote will highlight the critical role of qualitative methods in addressing complex public health challenges.

The colloquium invites abstract submissions from students, trainees, faculty, and professionals for oral (hybrid) and poster (in-person) presentations. Research may be completed studies or works in progress. Abstracts are limited to 200 words, and accepted abstracts will be published on the QMCOP website following the event. To recognize excellence in student scholarship, $250 awards will be presented for the best student or trainee oral and poster presentations.

Registration and attendance are free, whether attending as a presenter or non-presenter. The registration and abstract submission deadline is March 1, 2026, with acceptance notifications sent by March 10. A catered lunch, including vegan and vegetarian options, will be provided for in-person attendees, and an optional post-event mixer will follow at Skydance Brewing.

Funding from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) makes the work and activities of the TSET Health Promotion Research Center possible and supports the continued growth of qualitative health sciences research at OU Health Campus.
