The OU Hudson College of Public Health is proud to host the Hudson Fellows in Public Health Symposium 2024 on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. This year’s symposium will feature public health expert Dr. Alfredo Morabia, Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Public Health and Professor of Epidemiology at both Queens College and Columbia University. Dr. Morabia will deliver a keynote lecture titled "Becoming Population Thinkers: A Brief History of the Public Health Approach", delving into the evolution of public health research and its application to modern health crises, from the Black Death to COVID-19.
The lecture will take place from Noon to 1 PM (CST) in the Edward N. Brandt, Jr. Auditorium (Room 150) at the OU Hudson College of Public Health. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be accessible via Zoom (link below). Following the lecture, Dr. Morabia will participate in a book signing and photo opportunity from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM, featuring his latest publication, The Public Health Approach: Population Thinking from the Black Death to COVID-19.
The Hudson Fellows Symposium, established in 2016, is the College’s premier academic event, showcasing cutting-edge public health research and fostering the translation of research into practice. The symposium is made possible by a generous $5 million endowment from Dr. Leslie and Mr. Clifford Hudson, which supports eight full-time doctoral students at the College who focus on solving pressing public health challenges.
