Register for the free 2024 virtual Intestinal Malrotation Research Alliance Annual Meeting, happening March 26-27, 2024.
Intestinal malrotation, a congenital anomaly affecting a small but significant number of individuals, became more than just a medical term for Dr. Sydney Martinez, assistant professor of epidemiology—it became a mission. Her path towards understanding and advocating for those with this condition began when her own daughter was diagnosed and underwent surgical treatment in 2018. Witnessing firsthand the challenges and gaps in research surrounding intestinal malrotation ignited a passion within Dr. Martinez to make a difference.
Dr. Martinez and her colleague, Dr. Katie Corcoran from West Virginia University, established the Intestinal Malrotation Research Alliance. Together, they founded IMPOWER, the first national patient registry for intestinal malrotation in 2021. They have now organized the first virtual annual meeting to build capacity for research related to intestinal malrotation for March 26th and 27th , 2024. The meeting is open to the public and free to attend.
