MHA Students Shine at KUMC Case Competition

Published: Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Two teams of Master of Health Administration (MHA) students from the OU Hudson College of Public Health recently represented the University of Oklahoma Health Campus at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) Case Competition. Competing against 10 teams from multiple states, the OU teams captured an impressive 2nd place finish.

The competition provided students with a hands-on opportunity to tackle real-world healthcare challenges, requiring thoughtful analysis, collaboration, and clear communication—skills essential for future healthcare leaders.

Faculty support played a key role in the teams’ success. Halley Reeves, Mark Woodring, and Ed Hamilton guided the students throughout the preparation process, while Aizhan Karabukayeva attended the competition to provide on-the-ground support. Student leader Amaya Ngo also helped coordinate the teams’ efforts, ensuring thorough preparation and smooth execution.

“Experiences like this are invaluable for our MHA students,” said Ganisher Davlyatov, MHA Program Director in the Department of Health Administration and Policy. “They strengthen the analytical, teamwork, and communication skills that are critical for success in healthcare leadership.”

The Hudson College of Public Health is proud to see its students excel in competitive, high-pressure environments and looks forward to their continued success in shaping the future of healthcare.
