Three students from the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) at the OU Hudson College of Public Health were honored with prestigious scholarships at this year’s American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) CONNECT 2025 Conference, held May 19–21 in Kansas City, Missouri.
The AIHA CONNECT Conference is the largest national gathering of professionals in industrial hygiene and occupational health, drawing researchers, practitioners, and students from across the country. Each year, the AIHA and its partners recognize outstanding students for their academic achievements and commitment to advancing workplace health and safety.
Mingze Zhu was awarded both the Nick D. Yin Scholarship and the D. Jeff Burton Scholarship, recognizing his academic excellence and dedication to the profession. Bukunmi Akanji received the Ralph Vernon Memorial Scholarship, which supports students pursuing careers in industrial hygiene. David Bolade was honored with the Kyle B. Dotson Scholarship, named in memory of a respected leader in the field.
These national honors reflect the exceptional caliber of students within the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health and their potential to make meaningful contributions to the field. The awards also underscore the strength of the College’s programs in preparing future leaders committed to protecting worker health and promoting safe environments.
