Oklahoma Public Health Training Center Announces Student Stipend Opportunities

The Oklahoma Public Health Training Center (OPHTC) is excited to announce the availability of stipends for Hudson College of Public Health graduate students. These stipends are designed to support students in completing program requirements such as a practicum, internship, dissertation, or other applied experiences that enhance their public health education and professional development.

Why Student Stipends Matter

For public health students, gaining real-world experience is key to bridging the gap between classroom learning and community impact. Through the OPHTC stipend program, students have the opportunity to work directly with public or nonprofit health agencies, many of which serve under-resourced communities. These placements allow students to apply the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired in their programs to address pressing public health issues.

Field experiences supported by stipends are structured to provide meaningful opportunities for students to contribute to public health practice, while also deepening their understanding of public health competencies. Each project culminates in a deliverable such as a poster presentation or scientific report, allowing students to showcase their findings and solutions.

Eligibility and How to Apply

Eligible students must be enrolled in a graduate public health program (MPH, MSPH, DrPH, or PhD) at a CEPH-accredited institution. U.S. citizens, non-citizen U.S. nationals, or permanent residents are encouraged to apply. More information can be found here. 

Application Process

Interested students should review available stipend projects in the OPHTC stipend flyer and submit their applications by November 4, 2024, at midnight (CST). The application should include a resume/CV and either a rationale for interest in a proposed project or a half-page description of a self-proposed project focused on behavioral health, mental health, opioid abuse, or childhood obesity.

The OPHTC stipend selection committee will review all applications, with awards based on the quality and fit of each application. Successful applicants will be notified through an official letter of award.
