Dr. Phillips is Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. As Industrial Hygiene Program Director, she oversees the department’s ABET-accredited Master of Science program in Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health Sciences and its training grant funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. Before joining the faculty at the Hudson College of Public Health in 1996, Dr. Phillips worked as an industrial hygienist in private industry. Her experience as a practitioner informs her approach to teaching, where she emphasizes applying skills and knowledge to real-life scenarios and effectively communicating scientific information to professional peers, management, workers, and the public. Her research interests include exposure assessment in occupational and community settings. She is an active member and former chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Nonionizing Radiation Committee. She has been a Certified Industrial Hygienist since 1993.
