Afsheen Hasan, Ph.D., (2021-2023)

Afsheen Hasan received her MD degree from Ibrahim Medical College, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2008.  She received her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR in 2016.

Afsheen worked as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (BSE) and served as the research coordinator on two studies, a Stephenson Cancer Center (SCC)-funded pilot project to evaluate the implementation of smoking cessation within primary care for patients with type 2 diabetes and a National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities funded study that observes optimizing smoking cessation within Diabetes care at the Cherokee Nation. She has co-authored published protocol paper and two manuscripts submitted for publication. Her research interests focus on tobacco-related health disparities among populations with low socioeconomic status, different racial groups, and sexual and gender minorities (SGM). She use Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) data to explore tobacco use patterns in different population groups.
